Brain washing

What is brain washing? Can brain be washed with special kind of soaps? No, brain washing is a method to change the mind of a person. For example, American soldiers who were captured by the Chinese during the korien war claimed their jailers had tried to changed their ways of thinking and turn them against their own country. The jailers called this practice ,hsi nao hsi’, which means to wash the brain. After the war, when prisoners were freed, they said that attempts had been made to brain wash them.
The new word describes an old practise. In one form or another brain washing had been used in the jails of many countries. A prisoner is put in a dark, small cell and cut off from everyone except this jailer. At first he is treated cruelly almost like a caged animal to break his spirit. Supposedly, this makes him ready to submit to the jailer’s demands, and once he starts to submit he gets rewards. At this point the jailer talks about his own ideas and tries to fix them in the prisoner’s mind. If he succeeds, the man is brain washed and ready to support his former enemy.
There are other methods to wash the brain. Some of these brain washing methods are now used by some cults, cadre-political parties, movements, terrorist group etc, to make their members loyal and obedient.
